In Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, ten million chips have been produced every day for several years. And there will be even more. The multinational company Onsemi is investing billions of CZK in expanding production there and is willing to take the Rožnov plant much further with possible help from the Czech government.

Both Europe and the Czech Republic are trying to strengthen their self-sufficiency in chip production. They are now in almost all electronic devices and modern society cannot function without them. There are hundreds of them in new cars  and thousands in electric cars.

New chips based on silicon carbide will play a major role in this. Their main advantage over silicon chips is a ten per cent saving in the energy that passes through them. This means that electric cars, for example, have a longer range. The new technology has a very promising future.

The company started implementing lean a year and a half ago!
